Jannuary 2012: Training in Harskút, Hungary.

2011

Summer 2011:

in the past few months we have done a lot of things - and I hope to be able - when the time gets more calm those days - to put everything online:

  • July:              Trial in Martinkovice / Czech Republic.               text, photos and video clips will follow!!!
  • July:              Trial in Poland.                                                  text, photos and video clips will follow!!!
  • August:         Clinic in France with Benjamin Giraud.             ONLINE
  • August:         Clinic in France with Philippe Haeyaert.                ONLINE
  • September:   Championship in Martinkovice / Czech Rep.    ONLINE
  • November:  Herding in Hunary                                                          ONLINE

Great Success for our WBCA group in Hungary!

Because of the bad weather they nearly cancelled the trial competition, but we were lucky!

The first competition in the morning was the HWT (Herding-Working-Test) 8 dogs - Gronendale, Briard, Picard, and our Xano (Xano Black Kimmy von der Silbermine) came for it. At the beginning Xano was not very concentrated, but the had to watch the flock at the grazing area for 5 long minutes, and he did much better than I expected! He also brought the sheep home very gently, he was able to stop the flock at the stabilisation point, but did not wait long enought till I opened the gate of the roundpen, instead he did immediately a big bow and brought them. Xano got the mark "good" 73 points and was 4th!

Thereafter began the trial "FRENCH-STYLE". In four different classes.

JULA
(Ulla Black Livie´s von der Silbermine) starteted again in class-4, did a good job (nice outrun, good control over the flock, good stopp and stabilisation, but had some difficulties in driving the flock away and the cross drive) at the end we got the mark "excellent" and had the same points as the working Border - but because he had the better driving part he won the trial and Jula was 2nd!

BELLA started in class-3. She showed also an "excellent" work, made a really lovely outrun, had only a small mistake in the beginning at the fetching, and lost only one point!!! Bella won the trial, 2nd was a Border Collie only one point behind (he did not stop after the outrun, lift was to fast). The other could not finish the parcours.

Because Xano did his HWT examination well, I started him in class-1. He also managed to do every task and also earned the mark "excellent" and got 2nd!

So it was worth to do the five hour drive!

Unfortunately no photos this time, because of the mist - that´s our best photos, at all the others you can see nothing!

France 2011:

JOJO - George von den kleinen Bären

Thanks to Diana, our friend of "W B C F", we got the possibility to attend at two herding clinics this summer.

Our first one was with  Benjamin Giraud at Ardennen.

Jula (WBCA)Jojo & Diana, Tania & Robert, Duke & Anne (WBCF), and our friends of  WBCB Farouche & Heidi and Enid & Willy participated.

DUKE - Ellington Duke De Chester &  TANIA - Tania de Magic Moments

We got a lot of new tasks, for example to pass some obstacles with "out of blance work" and we had to lead the flock while walking on their side, and not in front of it.

Video clip: 1st day in France / at Benjamin's.

JULA - Ulla Black Livie´s von der Silbermine

At the 2nd day we practiced again the new things. Furthermore we tried to keep the sheep on a path, while the shepherder was not allowed to step into it. That was not so easy at the beginning!

Video clip: 2nd day in France / at Benjamin's.

ENID - Boomtown Cindarella          &       FAROUCHE

I thought I could practice all this also at our 2nd clinic at Philippe Haeyaert's (Champagne), but over there we got completely different tasks! Our WBCB-Freunde were already gone, but Jula, Jojo & Duke, attented also here as well as young Filou!

Kassie, Jula, Betty Jojo, Duke, Urby

This flock was much more reactive (they had not seen Beardies before), and we were simply not ready for this!

Video clip: 1st contact fast Sheep. / at Philippe's.

For stress relaxion we were allowed to work on the big flock in the afternoon! 100 heads of sheep - sounds much - is not - they could still be fast if they wanted to! So I decided to ask Diana for help - not only for translation! It was a real nice experience to work with those bigger flock. Philippe was desperated, because Jula refused to widen for him - as usual she has neither fear nor even respect for crying, stick waving persons - espacially when they are stranger, she don´t cares for them! After approx. 20 minutes, as the trainer was completely exhausted he retourned Jula back to me and I worked like I am used to: slow and ask her for as much space as she can give...

siehe Videoclip: Jula and the bigger flock.

JOJO

At the second day we  were allowed to work on male sheep. The rams were more relaxed than the ewes. Philippe liked to see how assertive our Beardies could handle them. There were other dogs before, who were not able to...

Video clip: working with rams

JULA

After this we worked again with the fast flock - but we react better: big distance, slow movement, overvlanking, immediate stop commands - all this was necessary to work those sheep (of course it worked not always out as planned), but it was much better today:

Video clip:  fast flock - better tactic!

The end of the day Philippe gave us some work in the barn: We had to select a few sheep, but every sheep group out of their bos in the next one, and bring our sorted animals into the last free box. While we sorted the ewes out, our Beardies had nothing to do, but (maybe the hardest thing) lay and do nothing, but watching, while the owner is occupied with the sheep! And all three of them did a great job, we could absolutely rely on them! After we have done our work we asked the dogs to bring the sheep out in the next little barn - so the dogs had to keep their nerves, that the sheep were not stressed unnecessaryly!

Video clip: work in the barn

JULA

Philippe Haeyaert was satisfied with the work of Jula, Jojo & Duke.

Working at a big flock, as well as working with the rams, handling the fast group and the barn work at the end - so the three of them earned their certificate: CACCBT

Only with those certificate you are allowed to start in France at the "Interbreed-Trials"! Only 3  Beardies before were able to get diploma - now there are 3 more!

JOJO

I think we can be very proud of Jojo, Jula & Duke!!!

BTW: if you want to know what Diana is thinking about the training at Philippe's, please visit her webpage: Diana's Report

Furthermore it was our last holiday with Kassie - that´s one of the last photos from her - as always watching eager the other dogs at work:

11th Sept. 2011

Herding Championship Traditional Style / Czech Republic.

This year 8 dogs from 3 different countries competed in class IHT-TS-3 in Martinkovice to become "Herding Champion of the Year!

3 Bearded Collies, 1 Welsh Corgie Cardigan, 2 Shelties and 2 Smooth Collies showed their excellents skills in handling a flock and manovering them through different obstacles as well as protecting them from a driving vehicle!

Jula "Ulla Black Livies von der Silbermine" made it!!!
For the 3rd year in row she won the Herding Championship Traditional Style in Czech Republic - always with mark "excellent" - and earned therefore, with those three CACT runs - as first Beardie ever in Europe - the title "Working Herding Champion"!

Video Clip JULA: click here!

Jula

2nd was also a  Beardie "Erin z Vileta Bohemia", owned by my Austrian Friend! She got also the mark excellent and a Res.CACT for her great run!

Erin

Unfortunately Othello had bad luck with his sheep group - though he managed anyhow to keep them from permanent running away, his run was of course not smooth and he got the last place, with 73%.

Video Clip OTHELLO: click here!

Othello

At level IHT-TS-1 we had one Beardie started: Vallarens Ulla Bella - she missed the 3rd place by one point only! Also a good result, considering she had babies this summer and could not train. (unfortunately no photo available).

So it was again a very successful trial for Beardies - I think we showed what Beardies are able to do, and that we can be proud of our amazing breed!

We have also learned something new, know what to work on and had an awful good time together with the other handlers and their dogs.

May 20th - 22nd 2011

Herding Clinic & Trial with Jackie Goulder / UK - translation follows!

Vom 20. - 22.

BEARDIE FOREVER!!!

JULA got 136 points (out of 150), the mark "Excellent" and the 1st place.
